As financial technology continues to reshape how consumers, businesses, and institutions move, save, borrow, and manage money, business strategist Jose Daniel Duarte Camacho is highlighting fintech's next major challenge: scaling innovation responsibly while maintaining trust, regulatory maturity, and customer value.


The global fintech sector has moved beyond its early disruption phase and is now becoming a structural part of the financial services ecosystem. In 2025, the global fintech market generated approximately $650 billion in revenue, growing about 21% year over year. Despite that momentum, fintech still represents only about 4% of the broader $15 trillion financial services industry, signaling significant room for continued expansion.


“Fintech is no longer just about faster payments or digital convenience,” said Jose Daniel Duarte Camacho. “The real opportunity is to build financial systems that are more accessible, transparent, and responsive to how people and businesses actually operate. Companies that combine innovation with trust will define the next stage of financial services.”


The shift is especially relevant as digital financial access expands worldwide. According to global financial inclusion data, 79% of adults now have an account with a bank, financial institution, or mobile money provider. In low- and middle-income economies, 84% of adults own a mobile phone, creating a broader foundation for digital payments, mobile banking, embedded finance, and alternative credit models.


Duarte Camacho notes that Latin America is positioned as one of the most dynamic fintech regions. Industry research shows that Latin America has recorded approximately 40% average annual fintech revenue growth over the past five years, driven by rapid expansion in digital lending, payments, and financial services for underserved consumers and small businesses.


For Duarte Camacho, the next phase of fintech will be shaped by five strategic priorities:


1. Financial inclusion: Expanding access to affordable financial services for individuals and small businesses historically excluded from traditional banking.



2. Trust and transparency: Strengthening data protection, clear pricing, responsible lending, and consumer confidence.



3. AI-powered personalization: Using artificial intelligence to improve risk analysis, fraud prevention, customer service, and financial recommendations.



4. Payments modernization: Supporting faster, lower-cost, and more interoperable payment systems.



5. Regulatory maturity: Building innovation models that can scale while meeting compliance, cybersecurity, and governance expectations.&#8203;


The growing influence of AI, digital wallets, open finance, embedded payments, and real-time transaction networks is also forcing traditional financial institutions and fintech companies to rethink competition. Duarte Camacho believes the winners will not be those that simply launch new apps, but those that solve practical financial problems with secure, scalable, and user-centered solutions.


“Technology can reduce friction, but trust is what creates adoption,” added Duarte Camacho. “The fintech companies that succeed will be the ones that make financial services simpler without making them riskier.”
