Author Dr. Sarah ShaBazz-Ugwumba is a professional educator with teaching credentials in both general and special education and has vast experience teaching from kindergarten through college. She received her Ph.D. in Education with an emphasis in Special Education from Walden University in January 2019 and a dissertation entitled “Teachers' Perception of Common Core State Standards on Students with Learning Disabilities.”

A founder of a mobile tutoring company that provides educational assistance to students of all ages, the author is also a civic leader actively working in community programs. She is the biological mother of eleven children, six sons and five daughters, and a grandmother to 18 grandchildren who calls her “Grammie.” Dr. ShaBazz has authored five children's books and two educational guides.
